The retailer Nordstrom, which has 74,000 employees achieved pay equity on the basis of race and gender for all employees.
The Associated Press updated its Stylebook to recommend that journalists no longer use qualifying words (such as racially charged and racially motivated) for racism. They are also recommending that the hyphen be removed in African American, and similar terms, because the hyphen divides, not connects.
Google Earth's Voyager program has a new initiative to preserve and promote 50+ indigenous languages and cultures.
4 U.S. states (California, Illinois, New Jersey, and Colorado) now require that schools that accept public funding must teach LGBTQ inclusive history. Maryland is next. This means that the roles and contributions of notable LGBTQ people will be integrated into history class.
