Black History (which in my mind, should be respected and celebrated all year) Month is almost over. Before the month ends, I want to reflect on the “E” in DEI. Equity. When I first started this work, “E” wasn’t much discussed, but now I realize equity is the most important word in the acronym.

Obviously, this isn’t rocket science, and it applies in so many different contexts: with our children, with our partners, with our team. I know I like it when others relate to me in these ways. But like with so many other things, leading like this can be easier said than done.

I was on vacation the first half of this week. It’s a fascinating opportunity to step out of my bubble. I don’t know about you, but my bubble is full of many lovely people I know who think similarly to me. It also means I can be out of touch.

A coordinated and formal pilot 4-day workweek campaign has been launched in the UK. Other countries such as Ireland and New Zealand are piloting this as well. The number of U.S.-based companies adopting 4-day workweeks is also increasing.
5 Things / A New Look
Much of the diversity, equity, and inclusion conversation focuses on the D, and many organization's public commitments are related to diversity targets. But it's difficult to hit the diversity targets if the culture isn't one where underrepresented employees can thrive. I'm sure you know this already, but Twitter is an example of this in action.
